Pfft... why bother with flash at all at that point, then? I can just use PHP to dynamically generate images and spit out one giant image for every page. No muss, no fuss. Of course, it's so fucking obvious! Why have I wasted my time learning actual HTML/CSS design at all?? Thanks for the inspiration, face!

(And, gee, alison, haven't you heard? Flash cures all your ills. One-stop shopping -- it'll fix you right up, good as new.)

1. Why doesn't Internet Explorer anti-alias its fonts??

FLASH handles anti-aliasing of both fonts and vectors.

Why can't IE handle my .pngs properly? How else are you supposed to get translucent images without resorting to hack-y alpha-filter CSS?

As of version 8, Flash can handle .pngs. You can also apply alpha layering to objects.

Why does IE display Microsoft's own fonts (eg. trebuchet ms) like shit? Can't they even handle render their own work properly?

With Flash, what you see is what you get.

Why does WinXP SP2 intermittently start a five-minute restart-timer when it has an update to install? I do some work on another machine for 10 minutes and hear a shutdown sound for no good fucking reason.

Flash doesn't (usually) fuck up your machine or make it do stupid shit. Though bad programming (like infinite iterations) can obviously make up for its relative stability.

Why does the time required to design a website double once you add that "test it in IE" step??

The .swf format is compliant with any browser on any OS that has the necessary flash plug-in installed. Installing Flash is easy and market penetration is MUCH higher than either Shockwave or Java.

Why does all of this make me so fucking angry????

YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG.

Man, Flash makes my life much simpler. I don't envy you.

fingers crossed i'm 'back to normal' this week, because i can't afford two weeks of sleep, i need to go to class!

thanks for the suggestions, though, P.

Maybe you were expecting someone scary at your door.

As for feeling sleepy, maybe you need supplements? A multivitamin? Vitamin B? Flax seed oil? E? The scent of anything mint helps.

A nap?

To answer your question, yes.
