Assorted "Doctor Who" Scoopage. Highlights:

  • "Doctor Who" . . . will air its third season in March in the UK

  • John Barrowman will return as Jack Harkness in the last three episodes of the season.

  • A wild rumour in the British tabloids emerged this week that both Robert Carlyle ("Eragon", "The Full Monty") and David Morrissey ("Basic Instinct 2", "State of Play") were being considered to replace Tennant sometime mid-way through the fourth season of the show, a rumour the BBC has since denied.

Man, who's viewing the page at '1680x1050' resolution? Any problems with that? I gotta think the text ends up being tiny.

(Sorry, going through my stats. Some interesting stuff.)

Surprisingly, there's a non-zero number for people using IE 7, and no complaints yet (*knock on wood*). Overall, we're 60%-ish Firefox, 30%-ish IE, and the rest Safari. Most assuredly an atypical distribution, but not one I'm complaining about.

I am curious about the visits from Transalta.

Al, what's "Bagebus"? (it's among the confusing search strings that have lead here, like "sushi ass" and "vagina punching").

My favourite search strings, though, have to be "ryan smyth mii" (why didn't we think of that?) and "fuck direct energy".

I'm still nowhere near my bandwidth limit. Maybe I should start hosting some copyright-infringing leaks of the first episodes of the new season of 24, just to make things more interesting for micfo...

EDIT: No sooner do I post this, than I discover that we're the number four hit on google for badass fire trucks. Goddamn.

On mattresses:

Herein lies the central mattress paradox. You sleep on coils because they're softer than the floor, but you still want good, firm coils, but then you put foam padding on top to soften the coils, but you still want the foam to be dense, and then finally you put a strong box spring underneath for just a tiny bit of give. All this shuttling back and forth on the scale of firmness—why not just start with the firmness you like, and then stop? My favorite mattress name encapsulates the paradox: Simmons Beautyrest World Class Granite Plush. Granite Plush???

An event some may be interested in this Friday (as I recieved it in an e-mail from my friend Carrie):

I am not usually
one for big group e-mails......BUT, I have an event that is worth
sharing with all of you! My husband, Michael Chase, has been working
on a solo album of some of his music. I think most of you have met
him. If you haven't, he's great! Anyways, just before Christmas he
finished his CD that he has been working on for over a year. He is
having a CD release party next Friday (January 12) at the Maverick
Brewing Company downtown. The address is 10229 - 105 Street. Tickets
are $10 at the door. All proceeds will go to the youth group at our
church. The doors open at 7:00pm and music will start around 8-ish.
CD's will also be available for $10.

If you would enjoy a mix of folk, blues, rock, and pop you should
come! And you will be supporting a new artist in the scene! He will
be playing with four other guys who recorded with him on the album.
Feel free to bring significant others and friends. We will have some
food and the Brewery bar will be open to sell their own beer. We
would both love to see you there!!

So that's Carrie's husband Michael - not mine, since my husband is named Ed...(just to clarify.)
