go back to maingo to old version
Speaking of upside-down (? I'll let you decide if that segue works; my initial feeling is probably not.), I recently had some money dropped in my lap by the English Department. For 60 hours of work that I apparently did. For a two-week period during which 60 hours of work on top of school would have killed me.
At first, I thought it was payment for another project that I'm starting; seeing as we just finished the paperwork on that a few days before I got paid. I thought it was odd that I'd get paid so soon, so I asked the profs working on that project. Turns out they expect I'll get the "prepayment" for that by, oh, February. So, that meant it was probably aberrant Streetprint pay.
I get that mistakes happen. I've made one or two in my day. Even mathematical errors. Of course, none of that really explains this email:
Naturally, there are people here more experienced with accounting errors than I. To them I ask, how does one turn "8.5 hours" into "60 hours"? Some crazy mathgick, I'd imagine, no?
I'd really enjoy all this fancy number-crunching, too (no doubt the knocks on the English department's math skills would be flying), if not for the fact that I have to pay the money back; and I have to wait for them to figure out how much they have to undeduct from the cheque so they know how much I have to pay back. Damn.

Hi Paras, It looks like you were overpaid by 51.5 hours on November 11.
