Direct energy are basically hosers who sell you contracts but no service. They don't own any power or utility services in this province. They act as deal brokers between you and a power company. They give the apperance of competition.

Parents never follow their own rules. That's why it sucks so much being a teenager. It's not the control they have over your life, it's that they expect from you what they don't do themselves. Also, I'm betting that the hustler was a direct energy guy. Why they were ever let into the Alberta system is beyond me. Just one example!
Ok, one more
Just goes to show you who is actually in control in this province though. For those of you who actually wonder who that is, it's those people with all the money. But enough pointing out the sad truth and more studying.

my mom was checking their old power bills, and in only 3 of the last 12 months were they paying anything close to the rate they "agreed" upon with this hustler... all the rest were WAY under. I think it depends on your own individual circumstances, but it really bothered me that this guy rang our doorbell, walked in and immediately my folks bought the package... locked in for 5 years (thankfully with a 10-day cancellation window).
I'd just like to know what happened to the "think before you buy" attitude my folks instilled in me.

Alison, we signed up for the package deal a few months ago and so far we're paying far lower rates than everyone else. At least we would if they could read the meter correctly...

truly, i agree with you, Par, but it's still interesting that the fourth line started the big show... another feather in the caps of Reasoner, Winchester and, um... oh shoot, who was the other winger?
and it's a pity people kept leaving the ice, and, well... that things unfolded the way they did... but a point is a point... and as Rod Philips put it, the crowd was nothing but honourable. i'd have liked to see the signs though... they would've been hilarious.
