Crazy:

I remember the one time I got to see them, when they were in town with DFA1979, and she was running the merch table (for some reason.) I think both Jere and I got copies of 'history' signed (well, kinda signed. There are speech balloons coming from some of the flowers in the booklet, but I swear she wrote them.)

That's too bad. I wish they put more info on their site about what's next for the band, whether they're going on one more tour, or what happens next.

Speaking of which, I guess the pics from the inaugural Oilogosphere street hockey game are up:

And what must have been a wicked glove save from our Mr. Beckett Badry:

(never mind that the ball is by his other hand.)

so...

it would appear as though my decisions to turn in early friday night to be prepared for the long drive yesterday, and then the long drive yesterday were completely unnecessary... they closed hwy 43! i mean, granted... we made it to Fox Creek before turning around... all of it was pointless, as we would've been stopped prior to our destination anyway. what an exercise in futility. 7 hours in a shitty truck (on what should've been a 4 1/2 hour drive) to return home and not have any work done... and now i'm going out on the long weekend...

bugger

don't worry about it!
also for future reference, and this goes for everybody, don't feel as though you have to apologize if you miss out on an event i put on or whatever - i understand everyone gets busy, sick or whatever. If you can't make it don't worry about it, s'all good, no need to apologize here, yup

Hey Eric, sorry we didn't come out last night, but I fell asleep at 9 pm. Grad school has made my bed time lame.

As long as you have it straightened out in your head and nothing happens then don't worry about it.

Albert, by no means am i giving my students preferential treatment with respect to marking etc. it's just that conversationally, face-to-face relationally, i talk with some more than others, and have a better time talking with some more than others. i'm doing my darndest not to create any sort of, uh, rankings (for lack of a better word), but it's a challenge seeing as i knew some of them from previous courses, and since i'm in a class with some of them... as well as some of those likely to be my students next year.

i'm sure i'm blowing it way out of proportion to the reality of the situation, but, like most of you know, i have a flirtatious personality, and so do some of my students (and some of my would-be students), and that's mostly what i'm worried about... especially this one guy with gorgeous eyes... (who's not yet my student, but likely will be next year... so does that mean it's ok in the meantime??) it's not so much that i'm doing anything, but that there likely is a perception that something might be going on... and that's what i'm worried about

Simon told me i'm a student-hugger...
