by the way, Taylor, are you a lomographer, or is it merely coincidence that you own so many bizarre cameras?

e.g. images such as these from super cheap cameras (supposedly)

That email reminds me of the test group in elementary school I was a part of who learned "whole word spelling." We were expected to memorize the spellings of words instead of learning to sound things out, or all those silly grammar rules like "i before e except after c" or how when you have two vowles together, the sound is the long version of the second vowel. Do you know how many words there are in the english language? Too many to memorize! It also meant that we really had trouble reading words that we hadn't seen often, even if we could auditorally recognize the word. I had a written word vocabulary of about 50 words until grade 3 when my teacher took me aside for "special" classes and we revisited all those grammar things my sister learned in kindergarten and grade 1. Needless to say, that method of teaching kids to read and write was abandoned.

Hello all! I'm not sure if anyone is interested, but I know that some people are thinking of buying homes in the near-to-relativly-near future. Scotiabank is offering a free home-buyer's seminar, here are the details:

FREE HOME BUYERS SEMINAR

- what to look for when house hunting
- how to buy a home with no downpayment
- financing options

Tuesday, May 2, 2006
5:00 pm - 7pm
145 Whitemud Crossing Library

This is actually a really useful seminar, it's not just the bank talking about why you should choose Scotiabank. I'm going, if you're interested in going, let me know (as space is limited and I need to make reservations). You can e-mail me at marye.kupchenko@scotiabank.com
