The invocation at a John McCain event in Davenport, Iowa:
“There are plenty of people around the world who are praying to their god, be they Hindu, Buddah, or Allah, that (McCain’s) opponent wins. I pray that you step forward and honor your own name.â€

Yeah, that was pretty much it, Beck. After a day of reading about skin conditions, that jumped out at me.
Also, I'm in the process of moving the domain registration (but not the hosting) of this site to GoDaddy (partly because it's cheaper, partly because micfo's customer service is going in the shitter, and partly because they invoiced me for $1600 for no good reason, and offered the barest of apologies when I complained about it.)
So, while I hope it goes smoothly, there may or may not be some hiccups over the next couple of days because of the transfer.

The patched/hedgehog intracellular signaling pathway plays a role in both sporadic [basal cell carcinomas] and in nevoid BCC syndrome (Gorlin syndrome). This pathway influences differentiation of a variety of tissues during fetal development. After embryogenesis, it continues to function in regulation of cell growth and differentiation. Loss of inhibition of this pathway is associated with human malignancy, including BCC.
The hedgehog gene encodes an extracellular protein that binds to a cell membrane receptor complex to start a cascade of cellular events leading to cell proliferation. Of the 3 known human homologs, Sonic hedgehog (SHH) protein is the most relevant to BCC.
