If anyone wants to see a completely rediculous show. Check out the flaming lips when they come to Virgin Fest in Calgary. They closed sasquatch fest on monday night, and completely blew me away. The music was great, the crowd interaction was phenomenal, and oh the visuals!. They were actually setting up the show for pretty much the entire day behind all of the other mainstage acts. I don't think any of the other acts could have even be compared to them. I was actually completely satisfied with everything up until the Lips did their thing. I didn't think it would be possible for one act to so completely eclipse all of the other acts. especially when the other acts consist of MIA, Battles, Rodrigo and Gabriella, The Mars Volta, REM, Thao with the Get Down Stay Down, The Cure and so many others. Phenomenal

Minor leaguer traded for 10 baseball bats in Texas:

Odom is headed to the Laredo Broncos of the United League. They got him Tuesday from the Calgary Vipers of the Golden Baseball League for a most unlikely price: 10 Prairie Sticks Maple Bats, double-dipped black, 34-inch, C243 style.

"They just wanted some bats, good bats - maple bats," Broncos general manager Jose Melendez said.

According to the Prairie Sticks Web site, their maple bats retail for $69 each, discounted to $65.50 for purchases of six to 11 bats.

Maybe we can trade Sheldon Souray for a bag of pucks after all!

This is interesting, from Mosaic:

Seems that the US foreign policy of the past 7 years has had the unintended effect of reshaping the diplomatic structure of the Middle East, with Turkey and Dubai emerging as mediators. Clearly there won't be constant forward progress, but this is an encouraging development at any rate.
