Yeah, Alison, I do think the intention is to deal with things as they come up, but the document is overreaching. There are boundary issues that they're obscuring simply in an effort to protect themselves.
My concern is that the deanery has demonstrated in the past few of years that they have no tolerance for conduct that places (or even potentially places) the FOMD in a bad light (which I don't begrudge them), but that that tendency needs to be tempered by recognizing that they cannot (either in practice or on principle) expect to be able to vet everything that students in the faculty do, simply because it's recorded or published on the internet.
Granted, there is an expectation that students in this faculty conduct themselves as professionals (as they soon will become), but that expectation goes hand-in-hand with treating the students as professionals, even if that means giving them enough rope to hang themselves with. And I think the deanery is slanting their approach too far to the side of caution with respect to student conduct, at the expense of student freedom.
I agree that people in general, and professionals whose work depends on a certain level of respect from the public in particular, need to be somewhat careful about what they make available to the public (blogs, youtube, facebook, etc.), but I don't think it's the faculty's role, in general, to police that. (Although there are cases, such as media directly related to the faculty, where they have that prerogative.)
(Also, "deanery" is a great word, and is used far too infrequently.)

Ecogeek has a series of videos filmed by Hank Green of Bob Lutz (General Motors Vice Chairman of Global Product Development) speaking to "new media" people (ie. bloggers). This one is about the decision to make hybrid versions of SUVs like the Chevy Tahoe (or, what Hank calls "big-ass hybrids):
Strangely, he makes sense. (Not, of course, as a permanent solution. But in terms of transition measures (which hybrids, essentially, are) hybrid SUVs give you the biggest overall fuel consumption reduction for your buck, even while seemingly existing purely to be logical contradictions.)
That was part 3. Part 1 is about diesels (and it kind of confused me. "Emissionize" isn't a word, Bob.) Part 2 has him addressing the Volt, GM's "series hybrid" under development (which runs electric until the battery is drained, then switches to gas.) That's a little more intriguing, and probably a better glimpse of where (GM thinks) automobiles are going.

Yeah, I got to go to the preview screening of No Country For Old Men, and I must say it's my favourite movie so far this year. Sorry I won't be joining you Al, but it's an AWESOME movie. I think you'll like it.
Also, while it's certainly violent, it's not actually overly gore-y. My girlfriend even liked the movie and she hates scary/violent movies.

Oh yeah, if you don't like gore don't see this movie. Some hitman runs around killing guys with a "cattle gun".
