Ah, Kevin Lowe:

"What happened was, all of a sudden, we got a lot of defencemen. We traded for Grebeshkov. We signed (Dick) Tarnstrom. We traded for Pitkanen. We signed (Sheldon) Souray. Then, I'm thinking, 'Holy mackerel, we've got a lot of guys here,' " said Lowe.

They just kept falling from the sky! It was all I could do not to get crushed! What am I going to do now?!?!

Holy crap:

The Alberta government kept quiet for three years about internal reports showing the province could bring in more than $1 billion in additional royalties each year without harming industry, Auditor General Fred Dunn said today in his annual report.

How does a government that basically loses a billion dollars in the wash justify staying around? How do people justify voting for that? How does the opposition not capitalize on that?

And, I mean, if that's too abstract to slap onto a billboard and hang around the necks of the Tories, maybe maybe this will work:
Dunn's annual report expresses alarm that nobody in government ever cancelled the charge card of Sasha Angus, Norris's executive assistant, who racked up $38,292 in personal expenses between 2003 and 2004. These charges included a bachelor's party in Las Vegas, CBC-TV reported earlier this year.

"They've been in power so long, they're going to stags on your dime. It's time to tell them enough is enough."

Somebody get on that shit.

in the end, I think it just hated me. I shook it, pulled really hard, cursed and swore at it and... nothing... and I couldn't use the normally very useful trick of sticking something else in there because the counters in this place have a very nice tiled overhang that makes it essentially impossible. (unfortunately)

BUT... after much heaving, shaking and general surly-natured attacking of the drawer by me, and then me giving up... my roomie stepped in and just plain opened the drawer. Then she turned to me and said "oh, I see you got it open." Go figure.

either way, I once again have access to forks, spatulas and bread knives. Yay!
