in the end, I think it just hated me. I shook it, pulled really hard, cursed and swore at it and... nothing... and I couldn't use the normally very useful trick of sticking something else in there because the counters in this place have a very nice tiled overhang that makes it essentially impossible. (unfortunately)
BUT... after much heaving, shaking and general surly-natured attacking of the drawer by me, and then me giving up... my roomie stepped in and just plain opened the drawer. Then she turned to me and said "oh, I see you got it open." Go figure.
either way, I once again have access to forks, spatulas and bread knives. Yay!

Alison - I'd also vote for the pulling really hard...you could also try to dislodge whatever is stuck using another kitchen-type utensil.

Also, scratch that bit torrent link. It's just a torrent of the iTunes download, which means it's DRMed. Apparently bit torrent doesn't come through again.

I don't think that heart is correct. There's definitely some strange things going on with those vessels.
Besides, it's a kitchen. There should be the schematic of a duodenum or something there. Obviously.
And have you tried pulling really really hard? Worked for a girl in my Chem 263 lab (although her thermometer ended up U-shaped after the endeavour.)

what's a solution (any) for opening a cutlery drawer when there's something wedged in there such that you can't get it open? ... at all?
