Scientists at the Laser Zentrum Hannover (Hannover Laser Centre), using an fs-Laser (femtosecond laser; that is, a laser that can fire bursts of 10^-15 seconds), have made the world's smallest jigsaw puzzle, from a 5mm x 5mm piece of paper:



Not just useful for the most frustrating jigsaw puzzles of all time, this experiment shows that lasers can cut the smallest and most delicate objects without damage or burning, making it helpful in more, uh, useful endeavours (like the world's smallest game of 52 pickup).
