so apparently in my sleep-starved state, i missed out on a few things while making that rant.
but what else are rants for?

I think it's alright to work within the system to change things - what Moore's doing now - but it all depends on how you attack things and whether or not you keep those same morals in mind. His switch to the statements that PVC isn't bad, or whatever else he's done lately, are incredibly scary considering he was once THE one people looked to to know what it was they should be avoiding.

I didn't mean to say he's evil, but I still do think he's selling out.

If you've stood for something all your life, suddenly switching your response around can make people do a double take and feel like you've become a traitor to your own (and their) very existence. I mean, I understand the feelings of Anarchists and their apprehension to work within the system because to them the entire system is what's the problem, but I can have those same ideals as an anarchist (aside fromthe system issue) and work within the system on the same points. Moore has gone from working on the fringes (and sometimes outside) of the system for strong environmental ideals to working within the system on much dilluted ideals.

A lot of people will say he's selling out, and I'm one of them at this point. But a lot of people applaud him. and I don't know whether either of us are right or wrong on that.

We need to work with industry if we want to see things improve, and definitely baby steps forward are better than no steps or steps backwards, but I still find it scary how pro-industry he has turned. Sort-of like the greenwashing Shell does. And I'm not saying that he's not doing anything positive (by positive, I mean pro-environment), I just don't know enough yet; same goes for Shell, though they do fund the Nature Conservancy Canada - a step in the right direction.

A friend of mine spoke about how environmentalists can change the future, we just need to set an attainable example for the rest of the public. And by attainable, she meant not extreme, something others can do without huge sacrifice. So maybe that's what Moore's trying to do, instead of scaring people with his Zodiac attacks. It's just going to take some time before I agree with his move.
