okay... I'm sure you know by now I wasn't eaten alive by some computer monster. But those machines don't get shut off at night, they just lock them in so they can't walk away by themselves! I did watch Bend It Like Beckham last night... good movie. And I thoroughly recommend it to everyone who hasn't seen it yet. I didn't make it to AD's mostly because I felt bad deserting my brother in an empty house... so sorry!

and on the note of mario kart, is someone being paid to promote this?? y'all are pretty gung-ho on it... mind you, mariokart kicks ass!

1. We were talking about this the other day at Chili's, but here's the link to it. A company called Canesta has developed a projection keyboard for the Palm Pilot.
   
   When equipped with the Canesta Keyboard, the OEM device uses a tiny laser
   "pattern projector" -- also developed by Canesta -- to project the image of
   a full-sized keyboard onto a convenient flat surface between the device and
   the user, such as a tabletop or the side of a briefcase. The user can then
   type on this image and Canesta's electronic perception technology will
   instantly resolve the user's finger movements into ordinary serial keystroke
   data that is easily utilized by the wireless or mobile device.

3. Finally, it seems that lawsuit-happy SCO is now going after Hollywood. This is a little soap opera-ish, but let's see if I can explain. Unix, the operating system model studied worldwide, was developed by AT&T way back when. Since then, the license for Unix has moved from AT&T to another outfit called SCO and then to Caldera, who later changed their name to SCO (still with me?) Now SCO is suing IBM because they believe that IBM gave code from current versions of Unix to the developers of Linux (never mind that when SCO was Caldera, they also developed a version of Linux.) SCO claims they have proof, but will not show anyone unless they sign a non-disclosure agreement. (Also, because it seems lawsuits are good for the bottom line, as SCO's stock price has soared from $2-3 at the start of the year to $14-15 now.)
   
   Now, they're threatening Hollywood. Funny thing is that all the people who say that hard work should be paid for and not free, use free technology such as Linux to develop awesome special effects technology for shitty movies. Nevertheless, SCO feels that they must go after anyone who they feel has wronged them (in other words, start lawsuits which will make them more money.) (As a side note, I was watching the Simpsons where Sideshow Bob was trying to get rid of television. In the underground strategy room where they discuss how to deal with Bob, next to Mayor Quimby is a character that looks suspiciously like a certain Dr. Fremdlieb (Strangelove.) Ah... the little things about that show are great...)

I dunno about you guys, but Im looking forward to the new mario kart. I watched the trailer and thought it looked pretty kick ass. Not only that, but just reading stuff about it like: "Link the game with seven other players using a broadband adapter and race each other side-by-side using multiple game systems and multiple televisions. Up to 16 players can play at once! " Or even about the characters: "Mario, Luigi, Peach, Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Yoshi, Birdo, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Bowser, Bowser Jr., Koopa, Paratroopa, Wario and Waluigi. As you race, use six standard items like Bob-ombs, bananas and more to disrupt other racers. There are also eight special items that can only be used by specific characters, which makes character selection a very important part of the game." Or even just the fact that there are 2 characters per kart controled by 1 or 2 players, crazy.
