Agreed, alison, it does seem like a site that's forcing it. And they definitely fall short of the user-submissions to Defective Yeti's Cliché Rotation Project (finding new ways of expressing old clichés). My faves:
Old | New |
It's a win-win situation. | Everyone gets ice cream! |
Looking for a needle in a haystack | Trying to find a clock in a casino |
Looks a gift horse in the mouth. | Wants birthday cake on Christmas. |
Nice guys finish last | No one remembers Ivan the Wonderful |
I think he's still taking submissions, too.

uh... bang the bricks, eh?
whaaa?
thus far, i can't say as i've ever used any of the 'idioms' listed... is this another one of those fake pop cultural analysis sites?
it's kind-of funny... in a lame sort of way...

Idioms - How to talk in the 21st century. Here's the one that got me to the site:
Bang the bricks: withdrawing money from an ATM.
Unfortunately I don't ever actually bang the bricks, but if I did bang the bricks I'd probably describe it as banging the bricks.
...
Then again, considering it seems to have lost its appeal after three uses, probably not.

We're growing up, I feel nostalgic and sad right now.
If I had a guitar at work and could play "dust in the wind" by Alabama (I think can't really recall right now) I would be doing this right now.

I just quit the job I've been doing since 2001, and that feels both a little sad and tremendously freeing. Woo-hoo!

oh, and on an entirely other note, why is it that i have the least desire to work when the deadlines are looming and i have so much to do? i think my entire weekend's going to be spent doing homework, ugh
