Oh and brand-new (though same model) iPod has been delivered. w00t.

Note to snarky DHL phone lady: despite what your screen said, it turns out my iPod was not in Winnipeg clearing customs at 3:00 this afternoon; it was, as your website told me, in Edmonton, awaiting delivery to me.

Sorry, I made a bad assumption in some javascript code. Should be all better now. (What do you mean, you didn't think I'd changed anything recently?)

And I laughed my head off at former first-overall pick Patrick Stefan's boo-boo. Man, I was sure it was over at the breakaway on the empty net

Funniest thing I've read about the Oilers powerplay is from Hot Oil's guide to What Your Oiler Boyfriend Says About You: Coach Edition. On Craig Simpson:

A woman who digs Craig Simpson is strangely drawn to real estate advertisements, and therefore loves to ride public transit. When eating with a group, she enjoys passing the salt around the table five or six times before actually using it on her food. When she finally does so, she often misses her plate and has to again pass the shaker around the table before attempting a second try.

Priceless.

Man Is Rescued by Stranger on Subway Tracks:

Mr. Autrey was waiting for the downtown local at 137th Street and Broadway in Manhattan around 12:45 p.m. He was taking his two daughters, Syshe, 4, and Shuqui, 6, home before work.

Nearby, a man collapsed, his body convulsing. Mr. Autrey and two women rushed to help, he said. The man, Cameron Hollopeter, 20, managed to get up, but then stumbled to the platform edge and fell to the tracks, between the two rails.

The headlights of the No. 1 train appeared. “I had to make a split decision,” Mr. Autrey said.

So he made one, and leapt.

Mr. Autrey lay on Mr. Hollopeter, his heart pounding, pressing him down in a space roughly a foot deep. The train’s brakes screeched, but it could not stop in time.

Five cars rolled overhead before the train stopped, the cars passing inches from his head, smudging his blue knit cap with grease. Mr. Autrey heard onlookers’ screams. “We’re O.K. down here,” he yelled, “but I’ve got two daughters up there. Let them know their father’s O.K.”

On an iPod-related note, it's all and good to know the repair status for mine is "Replacement Product Shipped", but the shipment tracking number they've provided is pretty useless without know what company is shipping it, isn't it?

The first Muslim elected to Congress in the U.S. confounds the critics of his decision to use a Koran to be sworn in by using a copy once owned by Thomas Jefferson.

Will the canonization of America's founders trump the irrational fears of some of its citizens?
