Perhaps the best part of this season of hockey is the fact that someone (or more than just one someone) is documenting the psychological roller-coaster that is the generation of Oilers fans who live in the shadow of the good-ole-days That is, those of us who missed the dynasty and were forced to try to think "Gee, maybe Joaquin Gage isn't such a bad goalie" or "Mike Comrie just as good as Doug Weight; I mean, he tucks his sweater in the same way, right?"

For those going to T(I)NC tonight, a special surprise (at least, it was a surprise to me; perhaps those with their ears more firmly planted to the ground already know this.) Before the Conspiracy, before The Fever, will be performing one Our Mercury.
Interesting...

WHOO WHOO! All aboard the hubris train!:
Surely, even this tempered sort of hubris has brought down greater teams than the 2006 Oil. But come on — can we not all agree that the Ducks thus far seem to be our easiest challenge yet? Can we not simply nod our heads and say that while they have some good scorers up front and a magical little elf called Scott Neidermayer singlehandedly holding up the back end, they simply don't have the depth it takes to roll four lines with the Oilers? I mean, fuck, don't we have anti-hubris credit banked from years of crossed-arm negativity and barstool grumbling to just feel a little cocky FOR ONCE?
