Tay, Hope the party was a blast. I will be getting a cell in the next couple of days before I go down to calgary.

Al, I understand the shittyness of life right now. My dad was in a motorcycle accident sunday night. I guess he layed the bike down going around a corner. Apparently his leg is quite a mess. He is going in for surgery again today to fix some tendons and nerves. So, down to Calgary I go.

Go Oilers Go!!!

Jeez, Alison - that is really impressive!

I didn't get the message about last night until this morning.... oh well. I went to see American Dreamz (with a z!) last night - pretty funny actually.

Sorry, guys, can't make it. Have fun. In my stead, I give you a tangible example of what has become known as the uncanny valley. The premise is that, as you make a fake image (for example, a human CGI character) closer to the real thing, it becomes more familiar until it is just shy of a perfect replication. Then, the minor differences and shortcomings become more grotesque (until it gets closer still to mimicking reality, when the familiarity increases again.)

The example? The new Sun-Maid girl:

Also, for some reason, I never noticed that it was Sun-Maid before (as opposed to "made", which I thought was the intended meaning). I guess I always read it as a single entity. I recall remarking to someone during our search for a business name that you read a lot of prominent names without considering the meaning of the component words anymore. This seems to be yet another case of that for me.

No plans, free as a bird as they say. I'll be there, maybe not at 7:00 (unless I break some speed limits) but I'll be there.
