Mary, I don't doubt that it's nice up there, it's just a long way up there, if you know what I mean. I loved Hinton, and I loved Lac La Biche because of the forest etc. surrounding, but there's just something about being so isolated... (not that Hinton is isolated, but our research locations surely were at times.) I'm sure it'll grow on me.

All I think I got is some dumbass teacher trying to be either hip, cool, and/or with it, and ended up offending everyone. followed by him trying to play the spelling game to re-establish his sweetness amongst his students, or his adoring public. with cameos of some of the students offended.

yeah. Syriana lacks some of the character moments that Traffic has so it comes off a little more dry. i was personally expecting more from the film after seeing Gaghan's interview on Charlie Rose. he really digs into the complexities of the film in that interview where he didn't otherwise have enough space to expand upon in the film. yeah i recommend you guys Torrent that interview - it's remarkable just what extent Gaghan went to in his research for the film, and just how much of the film comes from real life stories and experiences
