That's pretty awful. Your data is being sold to the government by your ISP and phone company without your knowledge. And it's being provided in an easy-to-access manner that allows law enforcement to query private data a million times a year, without a warrant or even an open investigation.
When the government tried to legislate this, there was an outcry and they quietly shelved it. Turns out they didn't need legislation.
The Citizen Lab has a form letter you can send to your wireless and internet providers. There are provisions in the law requiring these companies to disclose their privacy policies and whether disclosures have been made. Seems like a good place to start to fight this to me.

Did everyone see this: Feds ask Canadian telecoms to disclose private customer information 1.2 million times a year, docs show:
Per Jesse Brown at Canadaland, these are disclosures to law enforcement agencies that are:In 2011, the privacy commissioner’s office asked 12 telecom companies for information about their customer-disclosure data.
The Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association, which represents the industry, replied with aggregate data from nine of the 12 companies.
On Tuesday, Bernier’s office provided media outlets with a copy of the association’s response, which reveals that as of December 2011, the aggregate average number of requests was 1,193,630 a year.

Paras, I'm pretty sure you are the one who introduced me to xkcd comics. After all these years, I'd like to say thanks. There have been some pretty amazing things in the frames.
