Awesome. Thanks Albert. They don't look like "beach shoes" to me, but clearly we're not the beach culture of the UK.

oh, in other news, the Cards Against Humanity homepage is having a Black Friday sale today. All goodies are $5 more. I think it's hilarious and awesome. and good on them for giving "Black Friday" the middle finger.

I think this wiki entry pretty much spells it out:

I think they are chuck taylors. They are canvas upper which compared to the combat boots of the 11th and leather plus gaitered boots of the war doctor are pretty much "sand shoes" (good for the beach and that is about all).

Tony, how was the description for the Ninth Doctor? For some reason, I'm picturing "You're goofy AND serious all at once, but you come across as standoffish and awkward. And you have a unique sense of humour and sarcasm." ... because of how Eccleston's character was, not because of you. ... though you can be goofy and serious at the same time, too. And the whole banana-square gun-thing with Jack Harkness when they first meet in the "where is my mummy" two-part-er.

I'm the Tenth, apparently... it's a surprisingly interesting analysis. And I feel like I got it b/c I ALWAYS carry glasses with me... ;)
"The good news is, people seem to really like you. You're kind and generous and warm company, and you're never short of the right thing to say in a difficult moment.
However, you've been through some fairly tough times, and it can sometimes feel like all of this affection is just raining down and the bouncing back off your defences.

You put on a brave face, but sometimes that feeling of isolation can be hard to bear.
It's just as well you have some amazing friends to help you deal with it. "

Also, team, what the hell are "Sand Shoes"?? I figured Tennant's Doctor was wearing hightops. Do the Brits call those sand shoes??

Hey fellow whovians, the BBC released a half-hour, uh, companion show to The Day of The Doctor (which you can re-watch online if you want) called The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot, written by Peter Davison, and costaring Sylvester McCoy and Colin Baker (with some additional Doctor guests). It's pretty goofy-funny.

Here's the promo for it:

Par, if you're going to be spamming people about your male enhancement empire the least you could do is use your own likeness.
No worries though, I fixed it for you.

Thoughts about the Rogers-NHL-CBC deal:

- Sportsnet has the worst on-air personalities of the three (Kevin Quinn being the exception in my opinion.) That said, while it's possible there will be some migration, I'm not holding my breath for the end of the broadcast careers of Nick Kypreos or Glenn Healy.

- Gamecenter Live is great for me being out-of-market: high quality broadcasts, a short delay, I can watch it anywhere. I fear what a cable operator like Rogers will do with it to bolster their other businesses.

- TSN still owns the original HNIC theme, but has no national NHL TV rights. WTF.

- The NHL makes more money from its Canadian TV deal than its US TV deal (initially $300M vs. $250M from NBC, and increasing over the years). At what point do they just cut their losses and make the game more entertaining by reducing the size of the league?
