Actually, cocaine sounds like a pretty good solution to a toothache. It constricts blood vessels to reduce inflammation and it is a local anaesthetic. (And methamphetamines -- a stimulant -- seems almost logical to treat depression.)

Well to be honest, that would cure your toothache pretty instantaneously - for a while anyway.

In other news, somehow I missed the announcement that Michael Bay is doing a reboot of our beloved Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Only instead of being ooze-generated mutants they evolved through natural selection over millions of years in a non-earth environment because they're aliens. It's just a minor change chill out!

Once again The Onion is years ahead of the real news.

I hope they keep the same theme music at least...

Hey Par! What would you do if these were among your options as a prescribing doctor?

More here, including White Pine & Tar cough syrup with chloroform, and methamphetamine antidepressants. Fun!

I assume the Wild Rose Party feels like they need to make every possible effort to convince voters they're the right choice... Might as well go for broke, eh?

In other (more awesome, imo) news, check this out: a Cold War bunker from 1950's England designed to house 4000 British civil servants, the PM and the Royal Family in the case of nuclear war. It's less homey than the bunker in whatever that Brendan Fraser movie was called (Blast from the Past), but it has so much more stuff: a BBC station, power plants, a telephone exchange, even an underground train station connecting it to London (which would have been a fatal flaw in the "escape nuclear bomb radiation" plan, if you ask me). All 120 feet below the surface.

I wonder if they do tours.
