Microsoft Songsmith...

generates musical accompaniment to match a singer’s voice. Just choose a musical style, sing into your PC’s microphone, and Songsmith will create backing music for you. Then share your songs with your friends and family, post your songs online, or create your own music videos.

So a few people have posted their creations on Youtube. Here's one by a Gord Sumner. And another by a couple of brothers from Manchester. Enjoy.

That's crazy, Al. I guess it's not surprising that it happened, but it's still going to hurt a lot of people that it did. Sign of the times, I suppose.

So this was five years in the making but:

Nortel files for banckruptcy

I remember when I was in second year university my economics proof was talking about companies with really deep pockets. Nortel was the example he was using for a company that was obviously failing but kept on going due to really deep pockets. I guess he could of used any of the big three auto manufacturer as an example but Nortel was closer to home. Well the day has finally come, no big suprise really, just that it took so friggin long!

Speaking of randomness, here's Tonestar's top albums of 2008:

1) The Kills - Midnight Boom
2) British Sea Power - Do You Like Rock Music?
3) Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid
4) M83 - Saturdays = Youth

And I totally agree with that earlier Air Canada statement. I've never seen an airline try so hard to be so consistently mediocre. Although Lufthansa comes close.
