Happy birthday evil Al!
You're 27 now, which means: you have to be more mature, stop worrying about what other people think about you, stay healthy but stop freaking out about not having a six pack (believe me, the older you get the harder it gets, you now got old guy metabolism, you will get fat. Should of really done hard ab excersises when you were younger too late now!), keep on doing activities you enjoy (play that damn guitar more! Those 10 rifts won't play themselves! Stop slacking at Capoeira, you don't just learn it by sitting around!), and stay hopeful about finding love (I don't have to tell you that it looks real bleak right now, but who knows, if crazy death metal rockers can get chicks, hopefully this means you can as well).

I had mentioned to some people the Sports Illustrated predictions for Canada's performance at the Summer Olympics. They expected 15 medals total, 2 gold, 4 silver and 9 bronze. They also expected the 7-day medal drought people were wringing their hands over.
Here, via BoA is the predicted medal haul as summarized by TSN:
Adam van Koeverden and the men's eight rowing team are SI's choices for Canada's gold medallists.
SI's prognostications include silver medals for van Koeverden, Marie-Helene Premont in mountain biking, Karine Sergerie in taekwondo and Thomas Hall in canoe.
Eric Lamaze and Canada's show jumping team are chosen for bronze medals in equestrian as are Karen Cockburn in trampoline, the women's eights in rowing, Sebastien Michaud and Ivett Gona in taekwondo, Carol Huynh and Tonya Verbeek in women's wrestling and the rowing pair of Dave Calder and Scott Frandsen.
As Matt from BoA has helpfully pointed out today, those predictions were fairly accurate for medal counts, if not for colours. To this point the seven athletes/teams in bold have competed. Their collective prediction was for 1 gold and six bronze, and they have instead won 2 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze. The women's eights finished 4th in rowing (the "Canada Medal", as it were.)
In addition, two rowing teams and one swimmer have won bronze medals, so we're actually doing better than predicted.
So, keep an eye on taekwondo (apparently; who knew?) and the other athletes who are expected to reach the podium, but remember that there are others who are outperforming their expectations, even if it doesn't add to our tally (the 4x200 swim relay team and shot putter Dylan Armstrong, both just shy of the bronze, come to mind.)
I can't say for sure that there isn't a case to be made for revamping our Olympic efforts (though I doubt there's a need for it) but let's not make that case on medal drought which is just secondary to event scheduling. And, as I was saying to someone last week, you don't see Australia fretting about their performance at the Winter Olympics.
