So, I've found out something interesting, ETS does not tolerate their drivers driving while using cellphones. I think I'm going to become one of those terrible passengers who reports drivers... because, quite frankly, I don't need you to be driving erratically due to the argument you're having with your 9-year-old... particularly since I'm paying for you to drive me somewhere. or, well, my tuition fees pay for you to drive me somewhere...

From ETS, because I e-mailed them:
"Cell Phones Policy:

Operators are to refrain from placing or receiving phone calls on a cell phone while driving the bus. This prohibition includes hands-free devices.
Discrete use of cellular phones is allowed, provided you are off the bus and the calls do not interfere with customer service or your schedule.

2 words:

Money

and more importantly

Apathy

We just keep on letting them get away with whatever they want. If you hate this then don't ever go down to Kilgore, Texas. The safety violations are even more blatant down there. Imagine a pump jack 20 yards away from a Chili's.

I love living in Alberta...

... land of mountains, forest and prairies, big skies and sparkling stars, oh, and dangerously poisonous sour gas leaks

why do we keep letting them do this to us?

Make that c-section to vaginal delivery ratio 6-to-1.

(And I brought her into the world, too. That's a pretty cool feeling.)

Long overdue...

THE CLIMATE WARS: A lecture by Gwynne Dyer

7:30 pm Wednesday, November 21st, 2007 Myer Horowitz Theatre~Free of Charge

Gwynne Dyer’s lecture, “Climate Wars”, reflects on the eventual price civilization will pay for progress, darkly noting the intergenerational nature of the climate change crisis and calling responsible global citizens to action.

If anyone is interested in joining me, I shall be lining up around 7pm, just to make sure I get a seat. Let me know and I'll try to save a couple more.

oddly appropriate, I just came across this...

for you Dr. Who fans (of which I'm actually a little naive, but still... I can appreciate nerdish fascination with a tv show)...
