But there is a reason for the possibility of opting-out, AD. Four days shouldn't justify denying that. We're not talking about insurance here; you don't need me to overpay to subsidize your costs.
I don't think it's a bad idea. I liked the idea. And I think that my colleagues who are in the city are knocking it unfairly. $75 for 8 months of potential use is a pretty good deal even if you don't take transit every day. $75 for a week of transit use is nothing more than the narrow-mindedness of bureaucracy.
I emailed the Dean of Students and was told they'd have a decision after their meeting on Thursday morning. Perhaps they'll seem more sensible after that.

well Par, look on the bright side, in the four months I'm getting from the pass, I will be saving $211. At the very least, you can take some small modicum of solace from the fact that everyone else but you is better off from the deal. There's a reason why 85% of the people who voted, voted for the pass.

Damn straight.
That said, I was motivated by the growing discussion on the class mailing list, where people have resorted to "you should have voted, then" and "voting is lame and we wouldn't have accomplished anything and we weren't around anyway" arguments.
And these are people who will be in the city and able to actually make use of the thing.

Hmm, I didn't realize exactly how much I lost on this U-Pass deal. Two weeks Nine days of bus tickets = $36.00 $37.80
(for the two weeks of class I have between now and May 23rd, when I get back from Hinton)
U-Pass = $75.00
(I'll have to buy because the stupid thing isn't valid until September 1)
I guess I might use it on the odd weekend that I'm back, but being in the hole over $50 solely because of two weeks of class on campus (that was their justification for not letting us opt-out) is pretty shitty.
(EDIT: corrected my math for new fares ($21) and the holiday. Still, displeased.)

-Alison welcome to my world.
-Only thing i did last night was my usual rogueing (WOW), I did f#%k up some horde guys quest. Him and a bunch of orc npc were suppose to raid and kill everyone at a night elf outpost. Unfortunately for him I was in the area trying to find some weird forest clearing (I was actually going in the wrong direction). So I come stumbling around and find him having killed half the guards and I charge in and kill his npc buddies. He was a warlock so he hit me with mind control and made me run in the opposite direction (guess he didn't want to fight me.) This puts me into pvp and I'm down by half. I vanish get some distance and then bandage myself. He by this time has gotten some distance away and is waiting for me with his minion. I contemplate leaving him alone but decide no one mind controls me and gets away with it! So I stealth, sneak up to him and then cheap shot him, I follow this up with 2 sinister strikes and finish off with an eviserate. He is almost dead by this time but he mind controls me to run away again (in hind sight I should of coated my blades with mind numbing poison). He doesn't use his minion but decides to get away from me as fast as he can. He chugs a potion is back to half health and runs. I use sprint and easily catch up with him, I then sinsiter strike him 2 times, kidney shot to stun and then spam sinster strike until he is dead.
Yes this was a very excesivly long and pointless post. Just letting youi know what fun I had last night.
