so... McSweeny's issue 19 is a cigar box. a really cool looking cigar box... and it was like opening my grandpa's cigar box, only with irony... there were pamphlets on how to prepare for nuclear fallout, what set rhythm of warning whistles meant an air raid was over, and then more entertaining things like a memo from Donald Rumsfeld on how important it was not to leak private information, accompanied by GW Bush's dental records, and the booklet informing you how your horoscope can aid you in helping the Republican party... and a bunch of other stuff. interesting, and odd at the same time. ... especially the photocopies of old leaflets complete with holes and stains.

I watched a NASCAR race at the Grand Prix of Edmonton, right turns and all. It was really a CASCAR race, but since CASCAR was purchased by NASCAR...

Yup, that's totally the song. I just recently got a copy of that movie (hum dil de chuke sanam) on DVD from a buddy of mine.

Your cousin did choreography in that movie? That's insane. That movie is (or at least WAS) a pretty big deal not only in India but here as well. Also, it features the ever lovely Aishwarya Rai, who is notable if only for having once been voted as the most attractive woman in the world.

I'm not normally a guy who pays attention to NASCAR (apart from, say, commenting on their penchant for left turns), but there was a race this weekend that was, strangely, interesting. The reason? It took place at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. That is, it was on an F1 track. A track that has right turns!

I can't link to it, but there's a video there of the final laps in Montreal which includes some great shots of flames coming out the wheel-wells as they try to slow down for the tight turns on the track.

I don't imagine this is going to be a regular occurrence.

Hey, Tay, was this the Hindi song you guys were on about a few years back?

My sources tell me (i.e. my mom mentioned to me while watching this on a DVD) that my mom's cousin was the choreographer on this one. If this is the song, that seems like a pretty decent coincidence.

I think it would have to rely on the tree for support to qualify.

I also felt the need to not get soaking wet for the day. hope it was a blast. though if anyone is up for something tonight........ I could easily be persuaded into some sort of festivity....

And I may have access to another folk fest ticket if anyone is interested. it is for the entire 4 days. though it is transferable. share it with friends and so on.

best of luck everyone at the semi-soggy fest.

I'm a little festivalled out right now, so.. yeah... I'm taking a (mind the pun) rain check. though it'll probably pour at the folk fest anyway... meh.
