Irish company Steorn show-cases their "free-energy" device tomorrow.

The only possible outcomes:

- tears a whole into another dimension and aliens come pouring out (ala video game Half-life).
- oil/auto industry buys it all up and "forgets" about it
- WW3
- free lunch for everyone!

Alison, you can't make Orwell references! They can read what you write!!

Also, do you guys understand the following comparison? "Transformers is about as clever as an unplugged blender." I don't get it.

That said, does anyone want to see the movie tomorrow (Wednesday) night?

Does anything about the latest in the AEUB story strike anyone as weird?

Energy Minister Mel Knight will investigate the Alberta Energy and Utility Board's hiring of private investigators to spy on landowners opposed a new power line, Premier Ed Stelmach said today.

"I just want to make sure we have all of the information and that once that information comes forward to the minister of energy and myself, we can communicate back to Albertans," Stelmach said.

The move is a reversal from last week, when Knight essentially declared the file closed after speaking with AEUB chairman Brad McManus.

So, the man who, when faced with the possibility that the AEUB is biased and acted inappropriately, simply asked the chairman of the board if that was true and then closed the case when the chairman said no is now the man who will investigate the board's actions.

I won't hold be holding my breath for that report.

Yeah, the Nylander thing is pretty crazy:

On Sunday, July 1, 2007, Kevin Lowe, Oilers General Manager, and Mr. Mike Gillis, Certified Agent for Michael Nylander, negotiated and agreed to a multi-year NHL Standard Players Contract, starting in 2007/08. Mr. Gillis confirmed same to the Oilers in writing.

The Oilers then proceeded with preparations to announce Mr. Nylander’s contract agreement on July 2, and concurrently continued with the process of negotiating with other free agents based upon Mr. Nylander being an important roster ingredient for the future.

However, while the Oilers were expecting the returned, signed agreements from Mr. Nylander and Mr. Gillis, the Oilers discovered through public announcements made mid-afternoon on July 2, that Mr. Nylander had subsequently entered into a long-term contract with the Capitals.

The Oilers can find no precedent for such conduct in our history. The Oilers are examining and pursuing every course of action available in the best interest of the team and our fans.

Eh, they can just give us Ovechkin and we'll call it even.
