The Beckett ounce explained.

Thanks, ngz. It almost sounds like they've covered someone else, but I couldn't place it. Maybe it just sounds like another song I've heard.

yeah the Journal's probably going to have a small blurb, and ED's supposed to do a spread or something after. i dunno. we'll see.
bloc party question: it's a new song, not on the album. it's its own single that came out this summer. (two separate bsides, "HERO" another new song, and "Streets remix of Banquet") you may have heard us play the MSTRKRFT remix of Two More Years at Hipster Twister. i actually have two versions of the song - one version i bootlegged off my Bloc Party FanClub account which actually does not contain the outro lyrics that appear on the official Single release. i may have sent that to you awhile ago or something.

Despite the fact that The Journal and Ed (I think) may be embodied in a single entity at Twister, that's still awesome, ngz. But you neglected the most important part of the shameless plug: what are the prizes?

And while we're talking shameless self promotion, I might as well get this out of the way sooner rather than later:

We're (nearly) up and running. Nearly meaning we need content. But you guys can feel free to check it out at www.whatiftv.com.

For those who don't know (and, by extension, haven't had to suffer through Beck, Andy, and I talking about this site for hours on end (many thanks to Keri and AD for the patience!)) this is the website we've been working on for about three months. In the near future, it'll be your one-stop shop for independent film and tv from the Edmonton area (and beyond!). Right now, it's a shell, but a pretty shell.

Brian (the brains behind the operation) is filming his own show, involving bartending, cooking and power tools (at the same time!) at the Union Hall on the 29th. If you're interested, you can sign up for the guestlist at the site.

And, if you want to take a sneak peek at what we've got, as well as find bugs and make comments, I have bad news and good news. The bad news: it's locked out by a password. The good news: visitor/visitor will get you in.

Ok, this has been bugging me for a while, and I can't seem to find an answer. Eric, perhaps you (or someone similarly musically knowledge-d) can help me out.

Why does "Two More Years" by Bloc Party sound so familiar? Is it a cover? A rip-off of some other song? Is there something I'm missing here?

We only got these really terrible chocolate euro coins during our test. They tasted a little like I imagine stale chocolate gum would taste like.

I've decided I should probably try to keep up doing some German over the holidays so I don't forget it all, so I just spent an hour looking for kid's books in German (preferably with pictures) on chapters.com. I found "The Little Prince" in German, and I could order Harry Potter in English, French, Spanish, Welsh, and ancient Greek, but not German. Stupid chapters. And no Narnia series. Does anyone know if there's a foriegn-language bookstore anywhere in Edmonton?

Jump n' Bump? I haven't played that game in ages, I can just see the steven harper and jack layton rabbits deciding to jump on the paul martin rabbit while he is jumping on the trampoline... who will win? It's up to edo's imagination... dream away ed, dream away.

Jess- yup five and a half hours! But I'd much rather be doing that than writing a 300 word german essay, plus he brought us cookies by george... I had a brownie, so I think you're at liberty to complain. And yes we are planning to do the christmas eve service this year, I'll keep you and anyone else who's interested posted.
