"Do what needs to be done. simple as that."
I hate it when people tell me that.
drive to work, work to drive. Live to work, work to live. you know the drill.
Pretty much everyone needs work right now, esp retail, so you could pick and choose and probably get a job right away if Canadian Tire is not your cup o tea...
If nothing else, find someway to do what you love. the rest will work itself out.

okay, question(s) for you all (feel free to answer if you'd like):
So, here I am, three weeks from returning to e-town, and three months from having any sort of work, and I've gone and got myself a 7.50/hour cashier job.
The question is this: should I have done this? Should I have, instead, taken my time, looked for something better, and spent time researching grad school options? I'll have a research job for May pretty much 100% guaranteed, whether through grad school or not. I mean, there's always research jobs out there, I just have to look. But that's half the problem, what about Jan-April? couldn't I just as easily find a field-specific research job and just forget the whole retail world entirely. Because there's nothing I love more than having to fake smile at people all day long, handle dirty money and listen to irate people yell at me for things I didn't do.
right now, I just feel like I'm wasting my time. granted. I was wasting my time at home too, just lazing about... and there's nothing I do better than spending money I really should be saving, so I do need some money now... but, oh hell, I don't know. what should I do? work as a cashier for a while, and dump it when I get tired of it? sit at home, try not to spend money, sponge off my folks and seek school and research assistant position? or something else entirely?
if it weren't for my stupid car having a hole in the muffler and a coolant leak (plus needing an oil change), I'd totally be ok with not working for a while. Actually, if I didn't have the car at all, I'd have a fair bit more money right now anyway. (2000 on insurance in October, 100 on a new battery because no one gave my car love while I was gone... fuck... what a waste.) stupid car, bane of my existence...
well, thanks for letting me vent, if nothing else...

ANDY: you were totally up on all of us. I'd never even heard of Sufjan Stevens until that one day when we were in Blackbyrd and you had his Michigan album ordered (I presume because nobody else had ever heard of him either so it was not in stock)... and now his Illinoise album is hands-down the ALBUM OF THE YEAR. Good call buddy.

Well, seeing as it's been a quiet couple of days, and I don't really want to study, I thought I'd regale you folks with facts from the stats for damnyouparas.com.
Among the google searches that have people make their way here:
- damnyouparas (how lazy can you possibly be?)
- matt lisac (the power of advertising, I guess)
- shout out out out (you missed an 'out')
- kim bourget (I am truly at a loss on this one)
- mike hudema fuck (I'm really having trouble keeping up with the sex slang out there; I don't really want to know what this one means)
- osama's homobortion
Hmm, somehow I thought I'd have more interesting stats, but they appear to have removed one of my stats programs. Oh well.
I'll just leave you with a video of an old woman crossing the street... with hilarious results!

interesting... I had a rockstar energy drink during my exam this morning, and not much else. Either I was very dehydrated, or the rockstar is slightly odd. I went the bathroom and it was the brightest yellow I had ever seen, pretty much flourescent. Not quite sure what to make of it.... not sure why I posted this either, meh, back to the books
