if we get a powercore, we HAVE to get the assimilator plugin; it's supposed to be like Steinberg's Freefilter VST but BETTER!!! I haven't read a single bad review about it. Unfortunately I checked their site and assimilator will set us back an extra $250 US. YIKES. But potentially totally worth it... Though I wonder if it can be jacked? Apparently it's just a PC download that is used in conjunction with your powercore unit... hmm... dirty avenues of internet-ville... I will be digging through your virus-infested stockpiles soon.

Also, whichever model we get, we gotta make sure we have classicVERB and MasterX3... which seems to be standard on the new units anyway. I heard that the mastVERB plug-in isn't so hot though... it's getting mixed reviews. I've heard people say it has bit of a metallic sound which makes me cringe... I hate that sound in a reverb. ClassicVERB is apparently pretty warm and lush sounding though, so that sounds good... although again I've read hardcore studio freaks will still prefer their lexicon units. I want to see how easy it is to use convoluting reverb VSTs in nuendo... because they should be just as good if not better than standalone lexicon units.

from the FAQ

Will the PowerCore hardware run other than PowerCore plug-ins?

No. The PowerCore plug-ins are VST/AU compatible, but they are special versions that require dedicated DSP processors to run. Other VST/AU plug-ins are programmed for native CPUs, and these plug-ins won't run on the dedicated PowerCore DSPs.

fuck.
but still the built in ones are sweet. check out the Character one. dude says that one's seriously the shit.

we are in need of this shit.

on the compatibility chart i believe it says the plug ins are VSTS so all those hacked Reverbs should work yes? i dunno i'm n00b to all that shit. but yeah seriously if it's good enough for Marshall, the guy at L&M it's good enough for us. Dude's rad, knows his shit, and he's always willing to help. in a word, solid

Gotta love deciding to take the 10% deduction and handing a paper in a day late when about 5 minutes before teh 12 midnight deadline you realize that all of the calculations done over the last couple of days were done with heart rate data from the wrong source. well, it was done with a 17thousand dollar peice of equipment, so technically it should be better than the date obtained through a $90 heart rate monitor. ah wel, anything is better than a big ol zero. I am done!!!! not thinking about that assignment anymore.

my hands feel wierd! and I have no idea why. It is sort of a familiar feling while completely foreign.... kinda liket hey are somone elses hands, kinda puffy, kinda dulled senses. I think it is time for bed.

I'm thinking a good night at Halo is in order for tomorrow, or at least something along the lines of not schoolwork with much more dancing or drinking or whatever. back to my thought of needing more sleep tonight.

It always comes back to Markus and Kitayama's Culture and the Self; Implications for Cognition, Emotion, and Motivation (1991). I don't know how this happens... but every fuckin paper I write ends up incorporating their theories on cognitive frame switching. I've written cross-cultural-psychology papers on it, communication psychology papers on it, and now I'm writing a paper on the fuckin human factors of virtual environments... and it somehow comes back to Markus and Kitayama. Those two are incorrigible.

But I guess I gotta stick with my mainstay. They're my homeboys of the research paper.
