And surpassing other artist? If we have to put down other people and say we are better then them, what does that make us? Do we create only to use it against other people? Maybe I seriously need to shelf it for a while. I think I'm not getting pretentious enough for this shit.

Nobel stuff like what you said don't amount to anything anymore. The only things anyone is concerned about are results not the the work that goes behind it. I don't know maybe I just need to shelf Grand Arms for a while. It doesn't matter how much effort I put behind it, it won't amount to much.

Al: in answer to your question, it is those very artists that are better than me which compels me to continue. When I see artwork that is immeasurably better than anything I'm capable of, I immediately react in two ways:

1. The first, is a response of pure awe.
2. The second, is the insatiable desire to create something just as good, if not better. This desire is overwhelming.

The artists who draw the pictures that inspire me this way do so with their two hands. I also happen to have two hands that can easily draw the same lines as the lines in any picture I look at. Having two hands is the hard part, and that's already done for me. All that's left now is knowing where to put the lines. And I have the whole rest of my life to figure that part out! With that being said however, I fully intend to figure it out sooner than later...

which is why I continue to work at it so hard.

not to mention that when I do make something that I think is good I can't help but feel that it's a sort of "fuck you" to those other artists who I've just surpassed. One day I'll say "fuck you" to all of them. But today is not yet that day.

OMG THAT'S DISGUSTING.
that also strangely makes buying that Vestax Record Cutter (see post from the beginning of summer) THAT much cooler.
DEC-CAD-DENCE.

*phew...it's a good thing we live in a province like Alberta where we won't have to worry about an issue like Peak Oil for another 2 Brazillion Years.

Al, the more you draw, the better you will become. simple as that. I guarentee that you are among that percentage that could create and draw a grand arms better than I could. Create for the sake of creating.

And for those of you who love vynl, I have some bad news. The Death of Records is predicted for sometime around 2010. Because of oil shortages the byproducts in the refinment of oil, ie the stuff used to make records, will be in limited supply. There was a study 10 years ago to create an alternative, but nothing was found. Now that records are between 2-4% of album sales there is little money and scientists have little to no interest in finding a sutable alternative. Therefore the record may cease to exist in a few years.

Have a great Canada day long weekend. I know I will in Sylvan lake at the beach and waterslides. ciao

Tay how do you find inspiration to keep on doing art when you know a certain percentage of the internet is better artistcally then you? I'm only asking because I don't feel such a need to do Grand Arms anymore. All the new entries and member's post are so much better then what I can do. I mean I try to say to myself: "No one else will make the rest of the Grand Arms taskforce! You shouldn't care you should do it for fun, the rest will follow!". I don't know, I think my ego is too bruised to take anymore of this. I just feel I can't do it anymore, I wish I could make Grand Arms better but I can't. If there was only a sign to show me why I should keep on making units. Oh well, sorry to bore you guys with such pretentious inane artsy stuff. But if you are reading this then you must be really bored.
