Curtis Santiago was fuckin awesome last night. That dude is probably one of the best freestylers I've ever seen. He took 3 topics from the audience and freestyled a whole story using those topics. It was insane. Not to mention his stage presence is killer. Even kev was like "damn, roll over Rollie," but with no disrespect to rollie of course. The fact that curtis is originally from Edmonton is impressive. This city is constanty amazing me with the musicians it's cultivating.

Oh yeah, and ShoutOutx4 was flawless of course... but you already knew they would be.

Recognize this? You can see quad and the butterdome...

Also, my house is on there too! It's the bright light-grey one right in the middle of the page.

Apparently the skatepark didn't exist at the time these photos were taken. Too bad.

DFA 1979: Script Tokyo Undercover Tales of Rock

Death From Above 1979, needless to say, are big in Japan. Avalon Records employee and volunteer Script undercover rock reporter, who will remain anonymous, was recently in Tokyo "bartending" when DFA 1979 came into the bar for some preshow drinks. Script undercover, being a big DFA 1979 fanatic, struck up conversation with them and 10 free drinks later found himself with a backstage pass to the show. So after the show, which was, according to Script undercover Tokyo, amazing, he went backstage to commence partying with the band. Script anon relays that DFA 1979 are "nice guys" understandably since they are Canadian. After the show they went to a bar and got "plastered" followed by karaoke (as you do in Japan, you've seen the movie and you love it). Apparently DFA 1979 lead singer Sebastien Grainger specializes in Paula Abdul tracks while drummer Jesse Keeler performs a moving rendition of God Bless America. Post karaoke all shit breaks loose when Grainger tells a helpless fellow Canadian tourist outside the club that "outside is for men and inside is for boys and that he better get his ass inside or get his ass beat." This is when the nice-guy Paula Adbul singing image really falls apart. Apparently the Canadian tourist club-goer was not about to go inside so DFA 1979 "beat his ass right there in the alley" while the DFA 1979 photographer and cousin of the band shouted, " don't fuck with rockstars, all we do is drink and fight." Amen.

what does OASIS think of Weezer?
from chartattack:

"Yeah, we met [Weezer]," says Gallagher. "I like 'em. They're one of those bands you see on TV and go, 'I just like 'em.' I think they're pretty alright."

Gallagher saves his highest praise for Weezer's frontman Rivers Cuomo.

"Very strange man, him," says a bemused Gallagher. "He's my new favourite rock star. He freaked me out.

"He's just the total opposite to me, man. He's just very timid. He's like Yoda or something. But I respect that. He's a top man. There's totally a place for him. He's like the Andy Warhol of fucking music, that's what I think."
