- Inspired by a posting by Paras saying a swift kick to the Spirit Rover might get the thing going... I guess I was picturing something equivalent in size to a Radio Control Car... but I had heard it was somewhere close to the size of a golf cart. So here are some lengths:
MER rover (Spirit and Opportunity): 180 cm
Lunar rover: 400 cm
Small golf cart: 238 cm
Large golf cart: 325 cm
And just for comparison sake... the Canadian Miltary/Government is getting a lot of flack for its crappy equipment. Here are some more lengths:
Iltis combat vehical: 389 cm
Compared to the our best friends to the south's big beast:
Abram Main Battle Tank: 830 cm

I've clawed my way back up to the top, or rather, I've managed to claw my way to the computer. every part of my head hurts, if anyone asks where I am (ie maybe scott since we were supposed to go jogging today) I'm at home, with tonsillitis, it could be viral or bacterial, we don't know yet, which sucks because I don't get to start any treatment (and thus feel any better) until wednesday. oh yeah, if anyone has class with me, could they find out what the homework is so I can try and have it ready for when it's due (lookin at you par). and yeah, I think I'll go back to sleep now.

- A couple of things from the "I Can't Believe it's Butter" File (okay, so my file naming system sucks shit. what do you want from me?):
I still can't believe that this is a documented problem in Windows 95-2000:
During normal operation or in Safe mode, your computer may play "Fur Elise" or "It's a Small, Small World" seemingly at random. This is an indication sent to the PC speaker from the computer's BIOS that the CPU fan is failing or has failed, or that the power supply voltages have drifted out of tolerance. This is a design feature of a detection circuit and system BIOSes developed by Award/Unicore from 1997 on.
That's right. If your computer mystically plays "Fur Elise" or "That annoying song from splash mountain," it's telling you that your fan isn't working... *blink, blink* WHAT?!?!
Also, it seems that February sweeps brings out the best, and worst, in network programming:
The 'Super Millionaire' answer
(CNN) -- It was a phenomenon. Then it crashed. Then it emerged in
syndication. Now ABC is trying to revive it in prime time -- at least
for a week.
The network is bringing back "Who Wants to Be a Millionare," complete
with host Regis Philbin, for five days in late February.
According to an ABC press release, the new version will be known as
"Super Millionaire," and the top prize will be $10 million -- up from
the $1 million contestants could win on the original program (an amount
that continues on the syndicated version, hosted by Meredith Vieira).
" 'Super Millionaire' will take the format to a whole new level," producer
Michael Davies said in the statement.
Details were still rather sketchy. The new show will include the
familiar three lifelines but add others at a certain level of the game,
at which point "the game will 'morph' into a new dimension," the
statement said.
The network and producers still haven't decided how to choose
contestants for the new shows. The original show depended on a phone
quiz, which later changed to more of a demographic contestant search.
"Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" was the No. 1 show of the 1999-2000
season. "Super Millionaire" will air February 22, 23, 24, 26 and
27.

Okay, first of all... that dude's name is "Julio Navarro". I dunno about the rest of you, but I get the impression that he's neither Slavic nor Italian... although maybe that's just me. The eyes are a little off, so's the nose... but the hair and shape of the face- it could definitely be a cousin of jeremy's... on his great-great-grand-dads' spanish side, of course.
