- A couple more things. First of all, it appears Jere is in the news... sort of. His work is in the news. Something about thumbing their noses at the EPA (sounds like something Jere would do.)
Also, a bizarre ruling here about file-sharing. The Copyright Board of Canada made a ruling regarding MP3 players and file sharing. "[They] imposed a government fee of as much as $25 on iPod-like MP3 players," which means if you want one without paying Canadian recording artists, you should get one soon. Also, they said, rather enigmatically, that it's legal to download, but illegal to upload music. (A bit like the tobacco legislation that made it illegal to sell to minors, but legal for minors to buy.) Needless to say, "Copyright holders" aren't pleased. Interestingly enough, though, many are disappointed that we don't have an act in place like the American DMCA.
Finally, Beck, you have a One-year window to get Genescort up and running. That's how long the UN put off the debate on human cloning. Good luck!
Oh yeah, Eric, I wouldn't say that this board is pseudo-Fark.com. More like pseudo-Slashdot.org, with less tech-y posts.

LOWE: Hello... is Mike there? MR. BILL COMRIE: Um, yep, I think so, one second... MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIKE! TELEPHONE! MIKE COMRIE: Got it Dad! LOWE: Mike... it's Kevin Lowe. MIKE: Just one second Kevin... Dad... you can hang up... I got it. LOWE: So anyway I... MIKE: I'm very sorry again Kevin... DAD! MR. BILL COMRIE: Oh! Sorry! (click) MIKE: So what's up? LOWE: Well Mike, I have an update on our efforts to get you out of town. MIKE: Excuse me? LOWE: I said I have an update on our efforts to trade you. We've worked out a deal with a Western Conference Club. MIKE: Is it Detroit? LOWE: (sarcastically) Yeah Mike, it's Detroit. I'm off to pick up Datsyuk at the airport right now. No I'm afraid it's Anaheim. MIKE: Anaheim? Well, that'll do I guess, anything to get me out of my old room! Dad's driving me nuts! LOWE: Yeah, well, there's sort of a catch. MIKE: A catch? What, the uniforms? Yeah, they ARE ugly. Especially the new third ones. Who designs those things? Bryan Murray's kids? With crayons? LOWE: It's not the uniforms. We'd like $2.5 million in cash from you before we agree to this deal. So if you could just write a cheque or go to the bank machine that would be great. MIKE: Wait a minute. $2.5 million in cash? I'm willing to sign for less than that with Anaheim! I'll be losing money to play hockey this season! LOWE: That just makes you like every NHL team except Toronto. The bottom line is, no pay, no trade. MIKE: Is this some sort of joke? LOWE: No, the Datsyuk thing was a joke. MIKE: I think I'd better talk to my agent. LOWE: Alright, call me back... (TO BE CONTINUED) Jay Onrait is the host of the late night edition of SportsCentre. He doesn't get much sleep. You can contact him at jonrait@tsn.ca |
"The Datsyuk thing was a joke"! *Sniff* Ah, priceless.
Okay, to update the alias thing,
and, as far as we know
finally,

- so, Beck, your first non-canadian website visitor is from Jordan? That tiny Middle-Eastern Country plagued by war and intolerance... creepy.
Because you didn't know, here's some information on Jordan: It's sandwiched between Israel (west) and Saudi Arabia (east) with Syria to the north and Iraq bordering it on the northeast. It gained independence from the UK in 1946, and has been ruled by royalty, most recently King ABDALLAH II - the eldest son of King HUSSEIN and Princess MUNA. They're also undergoing some serious economic reforms at the present time too, and are joining the WTO (bad bad WTO!)
It's a lovely land of deserts, desert plains and highlands with limited freshwater resources, threats of droughts and earthquakes and desertification.
If you want to learn more, don't ask me. I was bored and looked it up on google. You could go to http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/jo.html if you want more info though... it's the CIA webpage (not interested in trying to make this a link, <but Par did!!> you'll have to tell me how sometime). But anyway, I'm sure you really didn't care to know all this anyway, you just didn't know where Jordan was, so now you know.
AAAAnyway, how do you know what country the people who visit your site are from? Do they survey the people, or do they just know based on server source? Because really, if I had to fill out a survey, how do you know I didn't just fill in Cambodia or Nicaragua for fun? Just checking.

is there anything going on tonight?
I feel like doing something, but I don't know what, nor how much of something I want to do.
maybe movies, or Denny's at 3am or something like that? Anything?
I don't want to study, give me something better to do!
with people, and not gross, of course. (perverts)

Who is the faceless dude? If it isn't Taylor, it is someone we know. I have to say Adrian Fong if I was going to guess someone and if not Jessie Li our buddy in Vancouver, and last guess would be Ray who we haven't seen in a while... That is all back to studying...

- Hey I just tested out my broadband adapter for the gamecube and it works yay!
I just raced some guy in Missassauga (sp?) around the baby circuit in mariokart double dash. Hooray for hackers!
It was a bit laggy, but then again he's on the other side of the country, for more local games it should be smooth sailing.
