Well, it seems that drug companies are even more evil than we origionally concieved. We all know that they are only out to make profits, and that theyuse stupid patent laws to inflate prices for the better part of our life times to rake in huge money. The question I ask you is why when they are so god damn rich do they need to be so very desperate for more?? As most of you know, my mom is a doctor, and I've seen the lengths they go to in order to try to buy a few more sales. The free weekend in the jasper park lodge was sweet. The dinner on the Edmonton Queen wasn't so great. But none of that is new to me. What some of you may be shocked to learn, as I have just done so, feeling the need for a frustrating rant in the process, is that drug companies actually pay doctors to release research papers that the doctor has actually done no research on whatsoever. Put another way, in case that didn't make any sense, greedy doctors are being bought out by the drug companies to take a paper trying to pass itself off as research on a drug and publish it in the medical and science journals. What this means is simple... You don't know whether or not the drug you are taking actually works. Your doctor has been lied to in order to prescribe you that drug. The final motive once again... MONEY!!!! The drug companies don't give a shit about our well being, only making more money...

While this may not surprise any of you, I felt that this knowledge should be thrown into the fray so that as many people as possible will know that drug companies, on the list of destructive evil forces, rank just above satan, and just below wallmart. And I'm sure as hell not putting a trade mark symbol after the wallmart.

This concludes my frustrated rant... Have a nice day!

Soccer update time. This one is a doozy.

The other semifinal went earlier in the day. The result, by two one-goal games, was that the vaunted XX***YYY side was, as expected, in the final. Both sides in this semi knew that it was getting to gut-check time. The true champion of would soon be decided. The teams tensed up. Then the best of three began.

After a spirited first game, involving some hard work, determination and overall amazing play, our heroes ended up nevertheless down a game, 3-1. Afterwards, the midfielding captain for PP, Number 7, was quoted as saying "We just didn't execute. We didn't leave it all on the field. Turnovers killed us, we didn't get the breaks and they were just the better team for that game."

In spite of the loss, however, and with their backs against the wall, PP never gave up. They fought hard in the second game, paying the price in front of the net and getting timely goals and defense when they needed it. With relentless end-to-end action, the match was intense. In the end, however, PP was the team that brought their A game, winning by a 5-3 score. Number 7 was more than pleased, saying that he finally felt the team was clicking and starting to gel. "It was a big win for us, one in which we found a way to win, no doubt about it. We brought our A-game."

So the semis all came down to one last game. This was it. All or nothing. Do or die. Paper or plastic. And this match was all it promised to be. It was ginormously tramaculent. End to end action, brilliant passes, amazing goals, dazzling saves and boring throw-ins (?), this game had it all. With moments remaining in the match, and 6-5 for our heroes, all seemed well. Then, a mysterious signal was sent on the field. Inexplicably, the team turned around and put the ball in their own net! The crowd was hysterical! Why on earth would they do this?! This was no Barbados-Grenada classic! Why on earth would PP do this?! After the game, Number 3, the defensive leader was quoted as saying, "We wanted this to be a classic. One to be remembered. The only way to decide a brilliant series like this must be in overtime." And so, to extra time we went. Golden goal time. Time to leave everything on the field (I hope they keep their kits on, though.)

And what an extra session! Furious action, including a ball that dribbled along the PP goal line before it was shortly thereafter repelled. Finally, with the match lagging, a brilliant series of one-touch passes. 7, to 6, to 8, up to the forward 10, then back to 11 and up to 9 for the one time shot! GOAL! PP ADVANCES TO THE FINAL!!! What a magnificent performace. With total team effort, 110% and a lot of character, PP had done the unthinkable. The 20th ranked team in the seeding round, now off to the final. With their best players being their best players, and taking it one game at a time, they had made it.

Final tomorrow during the Cmput 366 lecture. Fingers crossed.

For the record, I believe that "____________________" is Alison. Who else would use the service that I provide and question the manner in which I provide it?

And it's the same IP that she uses...

Which brings up another couple of points. First of all, you may have noticed the clearing out of old messages. New month, new board, I guess. I may have to do this bi-(or is it di-?)weekly, with the number of messages we get.

Also, the problem with the OS posts is that when you end a line in this form, it automagically puts the <br> tag in the post. This becomes a problem within the img tag, which many of you experienced. Finally, why can't you people look at your post when you get the "This is what your post will look like" page? That would certainly solve many a problem with the posts.
