umpapumpum (insert Little Drummer Boy lyrics here)

    Gridlock

This is a game that will either keep you busy for hours or make you bash your head through your monitor
(or both, if you're lucky). The object is to get the blue block out the opening on the right side.
The problem is that you can only move horizontal blocks left and right and you can only move vertical
blocks up and down (there's always a catch, isn't there). Should you decide to visit this, have fun and
    happy monitor smashing!

Football news: Celtic beat Boca Juniors today 1-0, in Cleveland, as part of the big summer tour of the U.S. by
six teams. They came off a 4-0 thumping at the hands of Man. U. at Seattle (!) two days ago. Not only was there
a major difference in the score line, but also in the size of the crowds. Seattle was packed, while Cleveland was
    essentially a small Celtic convention.

Coming up soon: Juventus vs. Barcelona.

Now if only Arsenal could come here...

as is slacking off...

... but it's okay. Slackers rejoice! By putting things off, you can actually get things done faster... at least, if you are using computers:

    Optimal Slacktitude (n.)

Thanks to Moore's Law, which states that the number of transistors that can fit on a chip and, hence, the speed of the chip both double every 18 months, starting a project requiring a certain amount of computational time later allows you to finish earlier.

Unfortunately, this optimal only applies if you are putting off buying the computer system that you will need to perform a computation of large magnitude. Starting your essay later, alas, will not necessarily mean that you finish sooner. If you are interested, rejoice. Not only are you cursed (like me) to be interested by what "normies" find innane, but you can also read about this discovery all over the net. Here's the "I'm Feeling Lucky" Google link for this term: The Effects of Moore's Law and Slacking on Large Computations:

There's nothing like a surplus sale to make you appreciate the cleanliness and civility of shopping at Value Village.

In case you're interested, and can be around the U on Friday, they're having a surplus sale from 12:30 - 3:30 at Materials Management (which is just south of the Jubilee). They're selling computers, monitors, printers, fax machines, desks, file cabinets, and whatever else isn't tied down.
