Well Movember is here so I will once again try to grow a mustache. Unfortunately this year this Movember means that much more to me: my cousin died less then a month ago from cancer. Even though we were not super close I feel a kinship with him as he was my age. So I'm going to try and raise as much money as I can this year.

For some reason this has been irking the hell out of me lately... the lack of "fend for yourself" skills many young people are exhibiting. Now I'm saying you need to know everything about everything to survive in this world but what you can't cook? can't clean? can't change a tire? can't start a fire? can't change a light bulb?

These basic skills are lacking in many 20 somethings I talk to. I think we have to go away from tech skills and work on the basic fundamentals that a generation ago would just be expected that everyone would know. What use is using an Ipad if you are stuck on the side of the road and can't put on a spare? Or you need to eat something all the resturants are closed and you are stuck at home. What do you do starve?

The end of the world is not going to be caused by terrorist, the anti-christ or other apocalyptic figure, or even a financial meltdown, it is going to be caused by our own human laziness and apathy. It will end with a whimper not a bang.
